What is BaZi?
BaZi (八字), also known as the Four Pillars of Destiny, is an ancient Chinese metaphysical system used to analyze a person's destiny and character based on their birth date and time.
The system converts your birth information into four pillars (年柱 Year, 月柱 Month, 日柱 Day, 時柱 Hour), each consisting of a Heavenly Stem (天干) and an Earthly Branch (地支), creating eight characters total — hence "BaZi" (八字, literally "eight characters").

Key Analysis Concepts
Day Master (日主)
The Heavenly Stem of your Day Pillar — this is YOU. All analysis revolves around understanding whether your Day Master is strong or weak, and what elements it needs for balance.
Yong Shen (用神)
The "Useful God" — the element that brings balance to your chart. If your Day Master is weak, you need Resource elements. If strong, you need Output or Wealth elements. This is the most critical concept in BaZi analysis.
Ten Gods (十神)
The relationship between your Day Master and other stems/branches, representing different life aspects: Wealth (money, father), Officer (career, authority), Resource (mother, education), Eating God (expression, children), etc.
Luck Pillars (大運)
10-year cycles that show how your destiny unfolds over time. Each Luck Pillar brings different elements and influences that interact with your natal chart, creating favorable or challenging periods.
The Ten Gods (十神) describe the relationship between your Day Master and all other stems in your chart. They reveal how different life aspects (wealth, career, relationships, creativity) manifest in your destiny.

- • The pillar position matters: Year (ancestry), Month (career), Day (self), Hour (children/legacy)
